ABOUT

Devon was born in Los Angeles into a celebrated film family (his grandfather was Head Costumer at Warner Brothers during the golden era, his father was an influential special effects DOP, credits including 2001, A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters and Bladerunner). After moving to London and graduating from the prestigious Royal College of Art, Devon has been directing and producing commercials and branded content globally since 2000. He has shot in over 30 countries, and in 14 languages, Devon is the directorial embodiment of - think globally, act locally.

Baby Whisperer Extraordinaire, Devon Dickson is the world's most versatile and successful director of babies and kids. Devon has charmed billions of parents with his unique flair for filming little ones. In 2016 his Pampers commercial Journey of Firsts premiered in the US during the Super Bowl, and online it went on to clock-up over 100+ million views in less than a year. It has been adapted to eight languages and is still clocking up the views (and as the viewer comments tell us) the tears.

There is no doubt that he continues to revolutionise how babies and toddlers are being filmed. Devon is the go-to guy when it comes to challenging scripts. From getting babies to talk, shooting on green and having them interact with a CG world, filming 20 of them at the same time, doing some kung fu, to recently having a toddler performing opposite a young dog. WC Fields famously said never work with children or animals. I've worked with both at the same time! It's amazing; two effervescent creatures, living in the moment, feeding off each other, what could be more magical.

Devon credits his success to an innate ability to anticipate what a kid will do next, fathoming the seemingly inexplicable and a knack for channeling their unique personalities to deliver a memorable film.  He also recognises the influence of being a father of four (his youngest is three); bringing some of my journey to the work is such a joy, connecting with parents by representing the powerful emotions of their experience, ultimately reminding them of their own kids is everything to me.

His work for hair and beauty combines a balance of storytelling and aesthetic allure, capturing images that behind the scenes are complex and clever but which result in sumptuous imagery seamlessly blended into compelling storylines. During the global re-launch of Head & Shoulders, Devon crafted a series of celebrity films (across a dozen countries) that pushed the brand to the number one selling shampoo title that it still holds.
